"There is a time for everything." ~ Ecclesiastes 3
Have you ever waited for God to do something? Are you waiting on God now?
Maybe you're waiting for God to bring the right person into your life so you can get married, or maybe you're waiting on Him to give you a baby or open a door for a new work opportunity or a new place to live.
Maybe you've been waiting for a while or maybe you've just started waiting for something.
The question is, ARE you waiting?
Or are you trying to push through things in your own time frame?
Each month I wholeheartedly seek God and do my best to listen for what God puts on my heart to share with all of you. This month I've waited and waited and I am honestly still waiting for inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
He has given me inspiration for a few other posts but I don't feel like they are complete yet, I feel like He is asking me to wait before sharing them.
So, as I wait, I want to encourage you to do the same.
The other day, as I browsed Instagram, I read a post by Havilah Cunnigham that struck me to the core. She said,
"The only thing harder than waiting on God is wishing that you had."
Friend, can you relate?
Have you ever chosen to do things on your own timeframe and NOT wait on God?
UGH, I have.
After a few times of doing that I will tell you it never ends well.
Any time I have pushed my way through things when God said no or when He didn't give me a clear direction to do something it has always ended poorly. He has always redeemed it and taught me a lot from those mistakes but I've always looked back and wished I had waited and listened to Him instead.
As I learn to WAIT on the Lord, He is teaching me how to have PEACE in the midst of PATIENCE.
Often times we hate waiting. We live in a culture that wants everything on demand and unfortunately, most things (good and bad) are right at our fingertips.
However, the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3 that "there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."
Friend, are you waiting on God?
Or are you waiting for the next opportunity to get what you want regardless of what He says?
As I wait on the dreams He has placed in my heart He has helped me to understand that I don't need to force the doors open. He will open them. Instead, I simply need to seek Him first. Then, as I sit at His feet and press into Him, He will lead me into everything good and true in HIS TIMING.
Friend, the same is true for you. Our Father is GOOD. He is Holy. And His timing is PERFECT.
I know it's hard to wait; especially when there is something you wanted desperately for a long time, but friends as we wait, I encourage you to take an inventory of what's in your heart and make sure it's Him you want more than anything else.
As you reflect on your dreams and desires I encourage you to give them to Him in prayer and then TRUST Him to work everything out for your good in His timing.
His timing is rarely our timing, but that's OK because His ways are not our ways, they are higher.
And always remember that in the midst of waiting God has placed treasures all around you. These jewels have tremendous value and beauty, you just have to stop long enough to see the gifts He has given you in the present.
With Love,
Kristin

Hi Elizabeth! I am so grateful you are enjoying reading my posts and stories and that they’ve been helpful to you! Havilah’s quote has definitely stuck with me too and helps me to wait when I want to rush ahead! God Bless!
Found this from your guest post over at Living by Design, and I’m loving reading your story and that quote by Havilah is so profound. I’ve been gathering a bunch of Scriptures together about waiting on God to make into a printable but it’s not quite done yet. It’s great how you turned a waiting time into a thoughtful post about waiting, something none of us much love!
